Production values are of the highest, and Wests sense of pacing is flawless. The camera performs tricks you wont believe. I have two problems with this film. The first, and least important, is that its just not believable as docu-drama; film directors -- even in the porn industry -- just dont sit around all day on the set nude, pulling their weenies. A more serious problem is that, as it is on a real-life porn set, the sex here is imperal and businesslike; Thad is offered a part on condition that he can produce an erection on cue and hold it for a certain length of time. One longs for a couple of the beach boys to get so involved in passion that they knock over and smash a camera, get fired, and keep on fucking anyway, but that never happens.
