Steven Spielberg teams up with frequent collaborator Tom Hanks in the new suspense-thriller Bridge of Spies. Set amidst the cold-war paranoia of the 1950_s and based on a true story, Tom plays James Donovan, an insurance lawyer tasked with defending a Soviet spy. When an American spy plane is captured by the Soviets, Donovan is asked to negotiate the pilot_s release in exchange for his client. He travels to Berlin and finds himself in the middle of a bureaucratic chess game. There are clear parallels between the Cold War hysteria and the more recent War on Terror, but the film stops short of preaching or taking sides. Come for the history lesson, and enjoy the magical pairing of Spielberg and Hanks. Bridge of Spies is in theaters now. It_s been a while since a good horror film hit theatres but Crimson Peak comes with a promising pedigree. Written and directed by Mexican auteur Guillermo del Toro, the film stars Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska as newlyweds, with Jessica Chastain as the meddling new sister-in-law. When Thomas brings new bride Edith home to the family manor, it_s not exactly the starter home she imagined. Thomas and his sister, Lucille are both keeping the true nature of the house from Edith. As we get nearer to the truth, Crimson Peak ramps up the horror, culminating in a SHOCKING final twist. I won_t ruin it for you, but if you like your scares, you_re going to enjoy this one.
