Starting quarterback Tony Romo has been injured... AGAIN It happened in Thursday night_s preseason tilt against Seattle. Romo was hit from behind, and doctors revealed he has a broken bone in his back. Romo_s expected to miss 6 to 10 weeks. Last year Dallas went 1 and 11 without him under center. While he_s recovering, rookie QB Dak Prescott is being thrown into the starting role. Welcome to the big leagues, kid Romo wasn_t the only quarterback making headlines this weekend. San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick ruffled some feathers Friday night when he refused to stand for the national anthem. It was actually the third straight preseason game he_d done that, but nobody really noticed until the 49ers game against the Packers. Afterwards he said he won_t show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses minorities. And he doubled down on the statements Sunday, saying he_ll continue to sit during the anthem until he sees significant change in the country. Now to some Formula One action Nico Rosberg took the checkered flag at the Belgian Grand Prix, but after the race everyone was talking about his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton started on the back row of the grid, but he put on one helluva show The British racer weaved his way through the field and managed to snag a spot on the podium, finishing third It_s the third time Hamilton_s started 20th or worse and still made the podium - more than any other driver in F1 history. He now leads Rosberg in the driver standings by nine points. We_ve seen plenty of close IndyCar finishes at Texas Motor Speedway, but never anything quite like this James Hinchcliffe dominated Saturday night_s race, leading 188 of the 248 laps. But it_s the last one that matters most, and that_s when Graham Rahal made his move. Rahal caught Hinchcliffe and the drivers went across the finish line side-by-side. Nobody in the stands knew who_d won until the official times were released... showing that Rahal won by zero-point-zero-zero-eight seconds It was the closest race in Texas Motor Speedway history She_s a knockout in and out of the octagon Paige VanZant took some flak for appearing on Dancing With The Stars earlier this year, but on Saturday night she proved she_s still got some pretty nasty MMA moves. But the ultimate goal is to unite a deeply divided Republican party. And that_s what will make the next few days so intriguing. Welcome to the newsroom everyone Melania Trump will headline the first night of the GOP convention. The theme for the evening will be Make America Safe Again. Trump_s son Eric and daughter Ivanka will also take to the podium this week. They hope to tell voters more about Trump the man, not just the person people see on the campaign trail. Less traditional speakers at the event include Scott Baio, Willie Robertson from Duck Dynasty and actress Kimberlin Brown from The Young and the Restless. Trump will officially accept the Republican party nomination on Thursday. Security has been a hot topic in the leadup to the convention. While items like tennis balls and large backpacks have been banned from the event zone, Ohio_s open carry laws mean legal gun owners can carry firearms in plain site. Cleveland_s police union is lobbying for Ohio Governor John Kasich to suspend open carry rights because it makes safety at the convention much more difficult. Union president Steve Loomis says the law is completely irresponsible. In the wake of deadly shootings in Baton Rouge and Dallas, the atmosphere outside of Quicken Loans Arena is expected to be tense. And with the race for the White House heating up, the latest poll numbers show that Hillary Clinton still has a lead over Donald Trump - but it_s pretty close An NBCWall Street Journal national survey found Clinton had a five-point edge over her Republican rival on the eve of the GOP convention. Clinton has a huge advantage among African Americans, young voters, and women. Trump meanwhile holds a strong lead among whites and has more support from male voters. The poll was taken after the FBI strongly condemned Clinton_s email practices, but before Trump picked Indiana governor Mike Pence as his running mate. Brazil_s top court has approved a controversial forestry law that could have a huge impact on the Amazon rainforest The court has upheld a ruling minimizing penalties against landowners who_ve deforested their properties. The law also cuts way back on the size of deforested land that needs to be replaced. The court ruling is a huge blow to environmentalists, who say it_ll create a culture where illegal deforestation is okay. In other words, you can_t see the RAINforest for the trees The impact of the Takata airbag scandal is being felt Down Under, where 2.3 million cars are now being recalled Faulty Takata airbags have been linked to at least 23 deaths worldwide - including one in Australia. Globally, it_s been the largest recall in automotive HISTORY, affecting 100 million vehicles The compulsory recall affects some of the world_s biggest brands, including models from Ford, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Jaguar, and even Tesla And two of America_s biggest retailers are revising their policies when it comes to gun sales. Dick_s Sporting Goods, which boasts more than 600 locations nationwide, says it will stop selling assault-style rifles - including the controversial AR-15 model. Dick_s and WalMart are raising the minimum age to buy guns and ammo from 18 to 21. WalMart stopped selling assault-rifles in 2015.
